What a roller coaster ride!

We are up one day and down the next. This has been a week of encouragement and it feels wonderful. The realtor has someone who may be interested in the house, our support has started to trickle in and friends have reached out to encourage us.

I’ve been borrowing everything the library has on Zambia and David and I spend nights reading and watching videos. It’s beautiful! The land, animals and people are fascinating. A chitenge is a piece of brightly colored fabric that is used as a baby blanket, sling for baby or food, a dress, a skirt or a shirt. Zambians can do wonders with a piece of cloth.

We just realized the other day that everything is metric system. This will be a challenge for David on the construction project. I’m sure we can make up conversion charts of some kind. Then it occurred to me, how does the accounting software make that conversion? There are 3,965 kwachas to each US dollar. This will be interesting... I bet the knob on the oven will not be labeled with degrees. Our house in Zambia does have a stove but only one burner works well. WHI sent us more info on the house last week. Thank you Lord there is plumbing!!!! It has three bedrooms and they all have twin beds or bunk beds. David and I agree that we don’t want to sleep apart for the next few years so we’ve asked the family I stayed with last year to help us find a double bed to buy when we get there.

We found the dogs a wonderful home. The family I interviewed last week are so excited and based on Lucy and Moses reactions to them, it will work out great. We can keep them with us until we leave, more time for me to spoil them.

We were at North Shore Church on Sunday. It was wonderful spending time with Pastor Chris and his wife Jan. He led the team on my first mission trip. It was unforgettable and changed my life forever. God has used him in a mighty way! He has a loyal and loving congregation and we felt very welcome. David is getting more comfortable speaking in front of people. God gives him the words he needs each time he speaks.

We are having our first garage sale this weekend, we hope it is very successful. Please continue to pray we find affordable malaria medication. One of the alternative medications is inexpensive but we would need to avoid contact with the sun. In Africa, I think that would be difficult. We are grateful for your continued prayers and encouragement.
