Our garage sale was a BIG success! We were so pleased with the number of people that came by but we are amazed that we still have so much left. We are going to have another one Labor Day weekend and what we don't sell then we will donate. Many neighbors and friends stopped by to encourage us. The sale also provided us with the opportunity to share what God is doing in our lives with so many people. We were blessed by the support we received from people we didn't know. One older lady stopped at a table that had all my cookware displayed and said "Honey, don't you want to cook anymore?" Great opportunity to share our call...
We have had a rough few days, think we need to slow down and rest. It feels we are being undermined every step we take. We know we aren't actually, but it feels that way. David and I sat down the other evening and made a list of all the positive things God has provided in our lives. We posted it on the refrigerator to look at each day. There are two families we are close to that are on the mission field and we have been talking and emailing with them. They are such a blessing to us. We know we are not unique!
God provided the encouragement we needed! We had our first conversation with the Johnson family that just returned from Zambia. It's so exciting what God is doing there. There are now 46 villages that are part of the AIDS orphan trust program in Zambia. The program is really making an impact on the Zambian people. To be able to work with them to enrich their lives and assist them in becoming independent and self sufficient will be a blessing to us.
Our home is in a safe area, and the compound is only a few blocks away. Traveling by bus or taxi is safe and he has names of people to contact for just about anything we will need. What a comfort to know we have all these resources to work with! We will meet with Jeff face to face in September and spend the day discussing our responsibilities. I could hear the affection he has for the people in his voice, it's contagious. He also talked of a great market to purchase fresh fruit and vegetables and David is excited, he loves fresh fruit!
Please continue to pray for a solution to the malaria medication issue, for grace as we share our call with district churches during the month of September and for the commitment of additional prayer and financial partners to share our journey.
