Please lift my mom up in your prayers. Her lung cancer has returned and in May they were giving her two years. Last week we found out that the cancer has spread quickly and Drs. are now saying it will be much sooner. Hospice has begun visiting her and we pray that they will be able to help manage her pain and make her comfortable. It's been a rough week and I've been overwhelmed with feelings of discouragement. What happens if the time comes to leave, do I stay or do I go? My pastor and church family have really helped me this week. I know I need to trust that God will work out the timing and whatever it will be, it will be according to His plan. Meanwhile, I will enjoy all the time I can spend with her.
We have visited Capac, Lennon and Kingston churches during the last few weeks. It's great to make new friends and see old ones. It's amazing how many people were at camp the day we announced our appointment. Many come up to us at churches and share how they have been praying for us since that day. It's so encouraging.
Getting ready for our last moving sale, I hope. I am still amazed at what we have left and what did we buy it for??? We keep downsizing, still hard to imagine putting our lives into 8 suitcases and two backpacks. When I look at it that way, we do have a ways to go...
Our latest "little stone" in the road... David was fixing a outlet on the front of the garage and thought he blew a fuse. He checked the lights in the garage and they worked so he walked away. A week later when I went to open our chest freezer... well I'll let you imagine.. We decided to look at it as a positive, we needed to empty the freezer to sell it. (It was a blessing I discovered it the night before garbage pickup.)
Jeff and Danette Johnson visited with us last week. We had an great day!! What an awesome couple.. They spent 1 1/2 yrs in Zambia and loved it. We are so grateful to have them for support and encouragement. They spoke to us of all the wonderful experiences and also of the periods of loneliness and uncertainty. They are being very open and it is so helpful in preparing us. Our roles are changing and it appears we will be spending much of our time working with teams visiting the various orphan trusts. We got a peek at the schedule of teams for the next two years, we will be busy! One thing we didn't realize is there are many people who are working with witchcraft and Satan worship. The Johnsons are helping us prepare and Danette suggested two wonderful books by Ken Hagin and we have begun reading them. We will be meeting with them a number of times before we leave. There is so much to learn. We are getting so anxious to be there! We have 30% of our funds raised but need 100% before we can leave. Please continue to pray that God is already speaking to many hearts and we will have many more prayer and financial partners
join our journey.
One of our dogs, Moses, is going to his new home this weekend. His new owner is a recent widower who lives in Texas. He is driving up to visit his son, our friend, and to pick up Moses. We hadn't planned on giving him up so soon, but his wife died recently and he is so lonely. Moe will be great company and I'm sure he will be loved and spoiled.
Please pray for traveling mercies as we continue to share with churches in East and West Michigan districts. Also, please pray for our health and strength. We are both still working full time and with all that is involved in preparation for the field, traveling to churches, scheduling and follow up work we have been physically and emotionally drained at times. Thank you for your continued support!!!
