Getting back to work has been hard, we are "ready" to go but there are so many things we need to address. The honey do list that has been collecting dust is growing by leaps and bounds and we are scrambling to get everything done so we can call the realtor. It's amazing what a person can get done in a day!
Making appointments with the Drs., dentists and going to get new glasses while we still have insurance. That is scary, the idea of losing such great health insurance but then I think of all the people that have never had insurance. What's that old saying, you don't appreciate what you have until it's gone, or soon to be... We have been blessed and God will see that we have what we need.
David is ready to leave tomorrow. He LOVES heat and we will have plenty of that. He's brokenhearted at the thought of missing a Michigan winter. Winter in Zambia consists of 70 degree days. We hear rainy season (which can last three months) is not so pleasant. That starts in October and goes through December. Ground breaking for the new center is scheduled for October, not sure how that will move with the weather.
I picked up materials to begin creating a display we can use at churches we will be visiting to raise support. I began remembering how kind and gracious the people are in Zambia. The country practices many of what we see as English /British traditions/habits. Every workday at 10 am and 2 pm work stops for tea time. It really is tea time, out comes the tea, cookies and conversation. Driving on the wrong side (for us) of the road and the steering wheel is on the opposite side of the car. This will be a challenge!! Relationships with family, friends and co-workers are treated with great respect. They consider it rude to say Hi, how are you and keep walking... I watched last year as people actually took TIME to speak to each other. We always seem to be in such a hurry.
I'm exhausted tonight but feeling very peaceful. David and I are taking more and more time each day to pray and stay in the Word. We are sure of one thing, this change in our lives will give us a new understanding of what it is to totally trust in God. Please pray for continued strength for us as we finish the minor repairs to the house in order to get it listed quickly.

Tea time...sounds fabulous! Rainy season...sounds wet! Your attitude is amazing! I am so proud of you and a bit envious because you have heard His voice so clearly. As we were pulling out of camp on Monday, I became a little overwhelmed with emotion as we drove past your site area. You will be missed more than you know. Abbey thinks that we are going to save up for a trip to Zambia! Please take care to rest during this time of planning. We are praying for safety and good health for you and Dave. I know that you will feel so relieved when you have some of your "list" of questions resolved. Enjoy Washington! You are loved!
