The view from here...

This is the front of our house. It's very nice, has a beautiful garden around the house and mango trees everywhere. We get a nice breeze during the day.

I wish you were all here to see what we are privileged to see each day. The smiles, the handshakes, the warm welcomes... The Zambian people are amazing, so kind and so gracious. David and I are continually in awe of the sights and sounds. The people are reserved and quiet but on Sunday mornings during service it is a different story. They sing, dance and praise God with all their hearts.

This lady is making Nshima, the food that is the staple of most Zambian families. It consists of mealy meal (corn meal), boiling water. The process is fascinating to watch. It is an acquired taste and I'm beginning to like it. You roll it into a ball, make a hole in the center and then use it to lift up other items on your plate to eat. You finish up by eating it...

This beautiful couple are raising their grandchildren in a small village a few hours from Choma. The parents passed away from AIDS and they are working hard to provide for all their needs. World Hope has helped so many of these families through the orphan/trust programs which enable the village population to grow crops, learn tailoring and work in developing animal multiplication skills to sustain themselves and to sell.

The wrap around the child is a chitenge, this are worn many ways. The women may use them as a covering for their skirts, to carry groceries but mostly they are used to carry small children. Most of the children grab the chitenge, walk over to the mom, jump on her back and she ties them up. It leaves both their hands free for work. We saw a woman the other day walking down the street with a large basket on her head, a child on one hip and a baby tied behind her. They make it look so easy! Haven't seen one stroller yet...
