Countdown - 6 hours

What a celebration our church had for us yesterday!! We were so touched by the outpouring of love from our church, family and friends. It was beautiful and so heartwarming. God was present and the celebration was amazing; the music, the sermon and the commissioning service were so powerful. It is a day we will never forget. They made up a wall poster for us, which everyone signed, and it will be the first thing we put up in our new home. My mom and Davids’ mom were looking on from heaven and we could sense their spirits were with us. What an emotional day, Kleenex were flying everywhere. When David shared our feelings with the congregation about how amazing it has been to see just how many people care for us, even he choked.

Our family spent Saturday night together and it was wonderful to see everyone before we left. (We were trying to figure out how to get our granddaughter in a carryon bag before anyone noticed she was gone).

We come before you this morning asking you to pray for traveling mercies as we begin our journey to Zambia. Our flight leaves Detroit around 1 PM today for New York then connects in New York to Johannesburg, South Africa and then on to Lusaka, Zambia. We will arrive in Zambia late Tuesday night. Please continue to pray for our families, this is hard for them. A special prayer request for one of our sons’, Josh, he’s very sad and struggling. This is one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do, leave our families behind.

God is awesome!! Between the monthly pledges and the contributions made to date, we are leaving with 100% of our first years’ support in place. Thank you so much for your continued prayer and financial support! Words can’t express how touched we are by your faithfulness.

We are so excited to see what God has planned for us. Next stop, ZAMBIA!!
